Snowflake Spritz Cookies

Spritz is a simple cookie made of flour, butter, sugar, and eggs that originated in Germany. My cousin gave me a cookie press for Christmas a few years ago and ever since I have been making these really cute simple cookies. In the past, I have tried other recipes, but this one was the easiest to work with and yield a tasty result. The hardest part of making this cookie is probably loading the cookie press because it could get kind of messy, but the dough that results from this recipe makes it simple.

This is the Land O'Lakes Spritz Cookie recipe that could be found on their website:
1 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, softened
2/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon almond flavoring* (Any type of flavoring will do)
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt

Heat oven to 400°F.
Combine butter, sugar, egg and extract in bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Add flour and salt; beat at low speed until well mixed. Divide and tint dough, if desired. If dough is too soft, chill for easier handling.
Fit cookie press with desired template. Fill with dough. Press dough into desired shapes 1 inch apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Sprinkle with decorator sugar. Bake 8-14 minutes or until edges of cookies are very lightly browned. .
